Museveni's father, Amos Kaguta, dies at 96
KAMPALA - Mzee
Amos Kaguta, the father of Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
died Friday morning at International Hospital Kampala, New Vision has
learnt.
Details of his death are still unknown but what is certain is that Mr. Kaguta breathed his last at EAT 7.00am.
President Museveni is known to be the eldest of his children, born to
his first wife Esteri Kokundeka Nganzi (RIP). Dr. Violet Froerich
Kajubiri and Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho alias Salim Saleh are the
president’s other siblings.
The late Kaguta was largely known to be a cattle keeper.
Museveni once revealed how his family migrated from Ntungamo district in
1960s to Rwenkanja in Kashari and later to Rwakitura fleeing a disease
that had almost wiped out their many herd of cattle.
And while senior Kaguta moved the dwindling herd to another location
free of disease, Museveni said he moved with his mother – Esteri
Kokundeka – and the younger siblings went to Rwenkanja in 1965.
Museveni has described his father before as a man of both character and discplinary instincts.
Burial arrangements for the deceased are underway.
