Rampaging Boko Haram members have attacked Mainok village at the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital killing 25 persons.
It was learnt that militants stormed village around 5:30 PM and spent about four hours killing civilians unchallenged. The attacked village is about 45 kilometers away from Maiduguri and located in the Konduga local government area, Saharareporters reports.
Sources at the scene of the incident said that the sects destroyed an estimated 30 vehicles and burned down hundreds of homes.
A resident who was fleeing his home, Ali Muhammadu, confirmed that about 25 civilians were slaughtered also destroying properties in the wake of the attack.He explained Boko Haram also attacked drivers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu roadway, killing many of them. ”We have buried some but some were burnt beyond recognition,” he stated.
A member of the A Civilian JTF, Ba’na Umar, said about 25 bodies were taken from the Mainok village area this morning.
Umar said: “many people are still missing, [and] we don’t know the whereabouts of some of our teenagers.”
He said that this would be the last time the sect has attacked Mainok village.
The spate of bombings and killing of civilian at home and places of worship by Boko Haram have continued unabted since the assumption of office this present administration despite promises that the sect will be dislodged by the shortest time possible. The sect has changed tactic to by using suicide bombers in their renewned onslaught on the Nigeria state.
The sect detonated bomb just few minutes that vice president, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo paid unannounced visit to Borno state leading to the death of many.
