Mother Burns Daughter's Hand For Stealing N950
A middle aged mother in Kenya was arraigned in court yesterday after she allegedly burned her daughter’s hand for stealing.
Saumu Said was arrested on Sunday by the Children's Department Officers after they learnt of the case.
It
is said that the mother came home from the work on Saturday evening and
found S 500 (N950) missing. She asked the daughter who denied the
allegations. Angered by that, the mother is said to have taken the
daughter, tied her hands and burned them while forcing her to say where
the money was.
The daughter who seemed to be sincere
explained to the mother that she had not taken any money. The
neighbours who heard her crying rushed to save her. They arrested the
mother and reported the matter to the Children’s Department offices.
Appearing
before Mombasa Principal Magistrate, Saumu denied the allegations. She
told the court that the child fell on fire while playing.
However, it was weird because she did not burn any other part of the body except hands.
The child is recuperating at the Coast Provincial General Hospital.
