Buoyed by performance, Jonathan storms Northern Nigeria – PDP

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that its candidate in the February 14 election, President Goodluck Jonathan, is heading to victory due to his good performance in office and widespread acceptance by Nigerians.


The spokesperson of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, who addressed a press conference on Sunday in his office, also announced that the president’s campaign train will kick off in the northern part of the country on Monday.

 The All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed as hogwash the so-called findings of the State Security Service, SSS, following its Gestapo-like raid on the party’s offices in Lagos, saying the ‘findings’ presented to the media by the agency on Wednesday is a great disservice to Nigeria and an embarrassment to all intelligence-gathering organizations around the world.

South East APC Commends Ndigbo For Emerging Highest Donors To GMB Support Fund


The South East All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Ndigbo for topping the list of donors to the Buhari Support Organization Campaign Fund, a peoples' contribution to General Muhammadu Buhari’s (GMB) war chest for the 2015 presidential election.

“We are happy to announce that when the managers of the First Bank of Nigeria warehoused fund unveiled N54 million so far realized, Ndigbo topped the list of the highest donors; a unique account that has GMB as the only signatory,” APC South East spokesman Osita Okechukwu said in a statement.

“As a state governor, military commander, federal minister, head of state and chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, [Buhari] showed unflinching commitment to fairness to all, irrespective of religion and tribe,” spokesman Rotimi Fashakin said in a press statement.

House-to-House Campaign Organization Dumps President Jonathan, Adopts Buhari For Change


The House-to-House campaign group, which in 2011 helped push Goodluck Jonathan into power, has turned its back on him and threw its weight behind his main challenger, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group cited Jonathan’s poor performance and inability to check corruption among political and office holders for its decision.

2015: President Goodluck Jonathan Endorsed as PDP’s sole Presidential Candidate





The 3073 delegates that gathered in Abuja for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention yesterday ratified President Goodluck Jonathan’s endorsement as the party’s sole presidential candidate.


With the ratification, President Jonathan would fly the flag of the PDP against whoever the opposition would be fielding to vie for the office of the president in next year’s polls.

The former Head of State grabbed around 3, 430 votes to beat former Vice President Atiku, Rabiu Kwankwaso, current Governor of Kano State, Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, and Sam Nda-Isaiah, publisher of Leadership newspapers, and to secure the bid.

Breaking News:Tension rises over Laose, Clark’s wife senatorial primary

The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has postponed till Tuesday the primary to determine the candidate of the party for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat after tension almost reached a boiling point between the two gladiators for the ticket.



Lanre Laoshe, a one time member of the House of Representatives and an insurance guru, is pitted against Dr. Bisola Sodipo-Clark, a medical doctor, who is the wife of Chief Edwin Clark, the acclaimed Ijaw rights campaigner.

The Peoples Democratic Party is making last-minute moves to ensure that only the most popular among its aspirants are picked during its governorship primaries holding on Monday.


Sunday PUNCH learnt on Friday that senior officials of the ruling party were on the lookout for candidates that could beat their opponents from the opposition All Progressives Congress in the 2015 general elections.

Tension is brewing in some towns in Osun State as some aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the state accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola of rejecting some of the results of the party’s primary. A source close to the party told our correspondent on Thursday that the governor had allegedly rejected the results of some areas where his favourites did not win.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is angry with the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, as a result of the latter’s conduct before and during the just concluded APC governorship primary in the state.


Saturday PUNCH learnt that Tinubu became angry when Fashola initially told him that he did not have a particular candidate for the APC primary only to emerge much later with a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Mr. Olasupo Shahore, as his (the governor) preferred candidate.

Ekiti State Gov­ernor, Ayodele Fayose has again attacked for­mer President Olusegun Obasanjo over what he called an open castigation of President Goodluck Jonathan by the ex-pres­ident.


Fayose who described the recent visit of five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors to Obasanjo as unwarranted, unnecessary and uncalled for, urged PDP as a party to stop con­doning indiscipline, saying “nobody should be treated as being bigger than the party.”
